Looking for the Lamp Dr. Charles A. Barrier (quotations)<\/p>\n<p>Word of God: who or what is? 1) Jesus 2) Scripture written OT &amp; NT<\/p>\n<p>Trust Bible: why? Read Ryrie\u2019s 14 Perfections of God on SQBooks.com<\/p>\n<p>God breathed: how? Two different methods: OT God\u2019s spirit with temporary indwelling and inspiration of His spirit. NT\u00a0 The Holy Spirit indwelt the Apostles and believers. Guided and taught them by inspiration.<\/p>\n<p>Bible purpose: for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction.<\/p>\n<p>The Bible is and must be inerrant. Why? God cannot make a statement and then violate His own statement. For example: He cannot say \u201cdo not lie\u201d and then record something in scripture (the Bible) that is a lie and untrue. It violates the character of God. All that God does and says must be based on unchanging and eternal truth. Therefore the Bible is inerrant. However, arrogant, prideful, educated men (human beings) will find questioning words to say that God\u2019s Word has errors and mistakes. Are they God? How do they know?<\/p>\n<p>Daily post will deal with each of the above issues.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Part Two-Basic issues:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What Bible: The King James Bible of 1611. \u00a0This is the perfect Word of God for English speaking peoples. This bible went through seven different processes as it went through its composition and these occurred over a period of seven years. A study of scripture will reveal that numbers play an important part in how God does things and each number has its place of importance, with some numbers have more importance than others. For instance: 1=Oneness, \u00a0One God, one family, one Relationship; 2=Witness, establishes fact; 3=Fellowship, Triune Nature of God; 6=Incomplete, Man\u2019s number; 7=Complete, God (1) + (6) Man is completeness, spiritual perfection. For more on Bible numbers, go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.basicchristian.org\/BibleNumbers.pdf\">http:\/\/www.basicchristian.org\/BibleNumbers.pdf<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/manna.amazingfacts.org\/amazingfacts\/website\/prophecycode\/documents\/Bible-numbers.pdf\">http:\/\/manna.amazingfacts.org\/amazingfacts\/website\/prophecycode\/documents\/Bible-numbers.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>KJV Bible<\/strong> of 1611 processes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>It took seven years to complete.<\/li>\n<li>It was the seventh complete English translation.<\/li>\n<li>Bibles from seven different languages were reviewed by translators.<\/li>\n<li>There were seven revisions of spelling, punctuation, and capitalizations errors.<\/li>\n<li>There were seven elements addressed by the translating committee.<\/li>\n<li>There was a seven fold approval process used by the translating committee to approve each section.<\/li>\n<li>There were seven personal methods observed by each translator.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The forgoing seven processes are explained in detail by Dr. Charles A. Barrier\u2019s book titled \u201cLooking for the Lamp.\u201d (If you would like a copy of his little book, contact me by IM or email.) This painstaking seven point process is what makes the KJV of 1611 unique. The seven 7\u2019s are God\u2019s stamp of approval for His Word in the English language. In the next post, we will look at Bible revisions and what is wrong with them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Part Three-Basic issues:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bible\u00a0 revisions and why they are flawed.<\/p>\n<p>First, the New International Version (NIV):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Copyright owner is Rupert Murdock. He is the largest producer of pornography in the U.S.<\/li>\n<li>Head of Old Testament is open professing homosexual: Martin Woudstra.<\/li>\n<li>Head literary consultant for the New Testament is an openly professing lesbian, Virginia Mollenkott.<\/li>\n<li>Translation committee claims to have just removed the \u201carchaic\u201d thee\u2019s, thou\u2019s, thy\u2019s, and ye\u2019s of the KJV. In the KJV, there are only 18,636 of these so-called archaic words. Yet the NIV has 64, 576 less words than the KJV. (See Barrier\u2019s book for detailed list of words removed.)<\/li>\n<li>The NIV has numerous doctrinal problems and contradictions. Has Elhanan killing Goliath instead of David. Makes Joseph the father of Jesus in Luke 2:43. Removes Paul\u2019s salvation in Acts 9:6. Heavy teaching of Calvinism throughout.<\/li>\n<li>Uses corrupt Catholic Dark Ages text as source.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Second, the New American Standard Version (NASV)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Director of translation committee renounced his work and involvement in the NASC as a tragic error on his part.<\/li>\n<li>Some of the words removed from the NASV are: LORD (400), Hell (41), Heaven (127). A small sampling of deletions.<\/li>\n<li>Many doctrinal problems and contradictions.<\/li>\n<li>When first published, proclaimed as \u201cGod\u2019s perfect word.\u201d In 1995-96 they made 6 revisions, 24, 338 changes, and 6,966 new omissions. If it was perfect, why was it changed?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Third, the New King James Version (NKJV)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First copies had a mysterious symbol stamped on it. This symbol called the Triquetra was a pagan witchcraft symbol for the unholy trinity.<\/li>\n<li>The NKJV has 19,755 fewer words that the KJV.<\/li>\n<li>A sampling of some of the words removed (as archaic): Lord (66), God (51), Heaven (50), repent (44), blood (23), Hell (22), and the word Jehovah has been removed entirely, as well as New Testament, Damnation, and devils. The NKJV also attacks the diety of Christ.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All new modern revisions initiate or incorporate changes that weaken of twist God\u2019s Word as found in the KJV of 1611. The above are just a sampling of what makes the new revisions and versions suspect. Satan does not want the truth of God\u2019s Word known by unsuspecting sinners. He is true to his character as a liar and deceiver.<\/p>\n<p>For truth about modern versions and revisions please read Dr. Charles A. Barrier\u2019s book titled \u201cLooking for the Lamp.\u201d Or get a copy of Dr. Riplinger\u2019s book \u201cHazardous Materials. The first book is about 40 pages and the second is more than 1200 pages. I recommend both books but pastors and teachers need a copy of the second.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Part Four-Basic issues:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As we have seen from the last post, you cannot trust new versions and revisions for the multiple reasons listed. So we must now review the issue of \u201cwhat is the Word of God.\u201d We have stated reasons for trusting the KJV of 1611. But skeptics and scoffers will always conjure up reasons to doubt or detract from God\u2019s Word and revealed truth. Why? Because skeptics and scoffers are tools of the forces of evil. Doubt is the most effective weapon that Satan and his demons can use. It was used in the Garden of Eden against Adam and Eve. Their doubt and error brought about the fall of all of mankind. Doubt is Satan\u2019s tool and he will use it relentlessly.<\/p>\n<p>We address the issue of \u201cwhat is the Word of God.\u201d We must look at several thoughts to answer this question. First, God\u2019s Word comes to us primarily from scripture found in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Second, we need to acknowledge what Jesus taught his disciples and the sources He used. Third, we need to understand that the writers of the New Testament, especially John, considered Jesus to be the \u201cvoice\u201d of God himself. John, in much of his writing, used the phrase \u201cThe Word\u201d as being synonymous with the name \u201cJesus.\u201d\u00a0 The forgoing statements tell us much about what is the \u201cWord of God\u201d and the authority that comes with that phrase. Jesus spoke and what he taught was gleaned from the Old Testament writings and what God the Father gave him to teach.<\/p>\n<p>One more thought before we leave this issue. Consider the truth of the following statements: God does not make any errors. God is perfect in all that He does,\u2026 God is the sovereign creator of heaven and earth. (Excerpts from 3\/22\/18 post on sovereignty) In our next post, we will review what Jesus said about the Old Testament.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Part Five-Basic issues:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jesus repeatedly quoted the Old Testament scriptures in his teaching. How could he do this if the Old Testament scriptures were not authoritative and authentic? Jesus was teaching the truth. He was guided by God the Father and what had already been written to the Jews. They believed that what Moses wrote and what the prophets wrote was given by God. To them the Old Testament was true because it came from God himself, by inspiration, to each of the writers.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus himself, believed the same thing. He said, \u201cThink not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled (Mt. 5:17-18).\u201d If Jesus knew that the Old Testament was truth and what the Father had given, all he could do is proclaim its authenticity.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus also taught that the Old Testament cannot be broken. (John 10:35) He is teaching his disciples that God\u2019s Word in the Old Testament has authority and absolutely nothing written in Scripture could be set aside or ignored. Jesus was saying that the Old Testament was authoritative in every detail like a chain with no weak links.\u00a0 He also taught that it was prophetic about his coming and purpose. (Luke. 24:44) If Jesus teaches us truth, then we must also accept the things he taught and the sources he used as authority.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Part Six-Basic issues:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the Bible is a manual for us to live by. To teach us doctrine, as a basis for reproof, to correct us in what we think and do, and it instructs us in how to live a godly life. We can trust what Jesus and the Bible says and what the apostles taught by divine inspiration. It does not teach us mistakes, but it teaches us how to avoid them. We can trust God\u2019s Word both written and spoken. The Bible is inerrant. That means it is without error.<\/p>\n<p>The Bible is and must be inerrant. Why? God cannot make a statement and then violate His own statement. For example: He cannot say \u201cdo not lie\u201d and then record something in scripture (the Bible) that is a lie and untrue.
