Leadership Trait: Inspiration

Another “wish list” quality for a good leader is for that person to be able to inspire others. To inspire means to spur on or motivate. To threaten some action is a negative motivator and usually impedes progress.

His courage is what inspired most of the company employees. This is a statement about an inspirational leader example. Keep in mind that effective leaders inspire movements that exist only when people choose to move in the same direction. Without a leader, movements fragment and go nowhere. The leader’s job is to inspire people to work together in the service of something greater than what they can imagine.

To be called a leader with inspiration, your must inspire your team through your actions and words to believe in a common vision. The mark of a true leader is the ability to encourage the employee commitment and engagement that is the foundation for continued success in that area. Look for some of these habits in potential leaders:

They have a crystal clear vision for the future. They express unerring positivity. They are grateful to their team. They inspire because they believe in possibilities.
